Extremely rare police helmet and equally rare helmet plate. A very small police force of only 18 men. Amalgamated with Cheshire in 1947.

SOUTH WALES CONSTABULARY approx. 1984

This design coxcomb helmet was introduced into South Wales Constabulary about 1980 to standardise the variations still seen in helmets that were  being worn from pre-amalgamation forces of Glamorgan, Swansea, Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil.

Recently acquired rare helmet of this former Welsh Constabulary. Date probably c1940.

Blackburn Borough Police

Blackburn used the Victorian style 'Guelphic Crown' on the helmet plate right up to 1969.

Both of these Blackburn helmets belonged to the same Constable. Day helmet above / night helmet below.

Glamorgan Constabulary Mounted officer

Glamorgan Constabulary Mounted officer helmet. When in uniform for normal duties, a mounted officer was recognised by a bullion wire 'spur' badge on tunic right upper arm.

Victorian 'pill box' style hat.

Another rare item. Not a helmet, but a typical example of a Victorian period 'pill box' type hat, worn when helmet was not used i.e. day-time.

Second style helmet plate issued approx 1984 until approx 1996 when coloured enamel badges were introduced. Incidentally the motto 'ICH DIEN' on the Prince of Wales feathers is not Welsh, but German for 'I SERVE'.
